The 23rd International Book Fair in Turin going on these days certainly represents the largest national event tied to the publishing world.
And like all large containers Lingotto also host the final appointments to various events and initiatives in recent months have moved the national publishing scene.
Monday 17, the final day of the Exhibition, the Literary Cafe will also host the final of the competition 8x8 that I had the opportunity to participate, beyond the selection for the fifth and final event, organized by Fandango Books and then won with merit by Mattia Zuccatti with his fine story, " Another request for help."
The Roman night in the narrow room, about thirty sessions clotted around half a dozen tables, was unprecedented experience for me.
Before self-reading public of one of my text, the presence of critics, editors, agents and writers and an audience much closer to my children by birth to my grizzled beard, young competitors coming mostly from the Master School of baricchiana Holden. All this could have created some embarrassment.
I was the first to read and after all the reading is spun off fast, without hesitation.
Then came the reviews, unfortunately.
But I found myself to consider how such an opinion to explain well the distance between a certain intellectual world and the daily reality of many, too many people.
